Sunday, October 7th, 2007 TEAM DUFFY AT EMERALD POINTE TRIATHLON
Well, here's my debut as a triathlete! On Oct. 7 Brian and I competed in the Emerald Pointe Triathlon. He had the honor of wearing #179 for Jon, and it gave him strength and determination. I was not last out of the water in my age group, passed people on the bike, and made it through the run to roll across the finish line in my first triathlon! It was so much fun to be on the course with Brian and to hear him yell, "GO MOM" was the coolest feeling. The best part was spreading the awareness for the War on ALS. |

What a great way to begin Mike's 70.3 weekend. Brian and I ran the Special Olympics 5K in Cumming, GA. We both had PRs. I even placed second in my age group!
The one of Mike is right after he picked up his race packet for Sunday. We weren't positive he'd have #179 until he had it in his hands.
Saturday, September 22nd, 2007TEAM DUFFY AT OKTOBERFEST INTERNATIONAL TRIATHLON
This was the longest distance in Brian's racing career. I'm convinced that Jon was in the water with him for the 1500 yard swim. Brian emerged from the water so strong...in true Blazeman Jr. style.
Sunday, August 26th, 2007 TEAM DUFFY AT WEST POINT LAKE TRIATHLON
We spread more War On ALS awareness yesterday in LaGrange, GA. Mike competed in the West Point Lake Triathlon. I learned that Brian/Blazeman Jr. is not a good triathlon spectator as he was itching to be on the course all morning. It's an olympic distance and just a bit out of reach this year---he'll do it next year for sure! I heard a some "go Blazeman" yells throughout the morning and I'm sure Jon was right there with Mike the whole time.
The "Pink Ladies" are from our neighborhood and have helped us with several War On ALS things that we've done this past year. They raced as a relay and had a blast.
Saturday, August 18th, 2007TEAM DUFFY AT TRI TO CURE
This is the race that touched Brian's heart four years ago and planted the seed for helping others. The photos are of Blazeman Jr. leaving T1 for the bike course; Special K making his way from the pool to his bike; and Special K with his 3rd place overall trophy! This is a favorite battlefield for the young Blazeman Warriors with over 300 youth competing and a message of hope and encouragement throughout the event.
Saturday, August 11th, 2007TEAM DUFFY AT MOUNTAIN LAKES TRIATHLON
GUNTERSVILLE, ALABAMA
Mountain Lakes Triathlon, Guntersville, AL (not too far from the home of our dear Jamie Lee Maner)
This was the coolest one so far. It was a time trial start and I entered Mike and Brian with the same swim time. They started three seconds apart so I watched them swim the first hundred or so yards side by side. Brian exited the water thirty seconds before Mike; they played a little cat and mouse on the bike and Mike hit the run before Brian and finished first for the Duffy men. People commented about "Blazeman" and War On ALS along the course and when Brian rolled across the line they announced him as a 13 year old Blazeman Warrior racing for Team Blazeman. I can't tell you the feeling of watching the two of them racing together...it's awesome.
Sunday, July 15th, 2007TEAM DUFFY AT PITTSBURGH TRIATHLON
The day after Brian's race Mike competed in the Pittsburgh Triathlon. The first photo is just after exiting the Allegheny River. It was great to see two young Blazeman Warriors competing at the Pittsburgh Youth Elite ITU Triathlon--Alison Simmons and Brian both raced in Team Blazeman uniforms.
